Card making/Scrapbooking Tip- The Rule of Odds

When adding emblishments, such as buttons, to your card or scrapbook page remember to use the Rule of Odds. By framing the object or picture of interest with an uneven number of surrounding objects, such as buttons, it becomes more visually appealing to the eye, thus creating a feeling of ease and pleasure. The eye favors things that utilize odd numbered groupings of design elements. Think of this rule as the 1, 3 and 5 rule, it may be easier to remember. This rule can apply to scrapbooking, card making, or even photography. But remember, this is the only rule in scrapbooking, besides having fun! Below is a layout including the Rule of Odds. On the top card, there are 3 circles and 1 flower. On the layout there is 3 blue squares. I know many are thinking "but there are only 2 flowers!" Look closer! On the flower that is right on the edge, there are 3 pedals on one and 5 on the other! They are not mirror images so the count as two different embellishments.

Dear Family and Friends,

I'm writing to tell you about my new adventure—I am now a Close To My Heart Consultant!

"You've become a what?" you might ask. No, I'm not kidding! I sell scrapbook supplies, My Acrylix® stamps, inks, cardstock, accessories, and anything else you need to make your own cards and scrapbooks. You can use stamps to create both. They are so versatile and fun to use. You don't even have to be creative or artistic to use them—you just stamp and color. Even I can do it!

I know you are wondering what exactly it is that I will be doing. Let me share…I will be teaching others how to use stamps, inks, etc., to make cards and scrapbook pages. The primary method is to hold a Home Gathering at someone’s home and demonstrate products and techniques. It’s tons of fun! I will also be doing catalogue gatherings for those of you who would like the rewards of being a hostess but rather not have a gathering in your home.

To kick off my new adventure, I am having an Open House on Sunday, April 18 at 1 pm at my home. This is a bring-a-friend event, so please do! This will be a time for me to introduce you to my new business and our products. I would be privileged to have you join me to help kick off my business.
